BANGKOK, June 24 (Xinhua) -- The construction of Thailand's airport-linking, high-speed rail project is scheduled to be signed next month, a government official said on Monday.

The State Railway of Thailand and a private concessionaire, which is a joint venture led by Charoen Pokphand Holding Co., will sign the 7.22-billion-U.S. dollar rail project within next month, after an Environmental Impact Assessment study has been approved by the National Environment Board, according to the a government official.

The Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, on Monday acknowledged the EIA approval for the high-speed rail project, primarily designed to link Don Mueang airport on Bangkok's northern suburbs with Suvarnabhumi airport on Bangkok's eastern suburbs and U-tapao airport in Rayong province in eastern Thailand.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee also acknowledged progress in Map Ta Phut industrial port's Phase 3 development project, a contract for which the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand and a private concessionaire are also scheduled to sign within next month.
